Start With Art!

Art Placement
Hang it right or not at all!

Art arrangements are always fun but sometimes challenging. I think that this one over a bistro table in the kitchen wound up especially exciting! We started with the large piece to the right. Notice the ceiling. It is lower in the space to the left, in the kitchen. The rest of the ceiling to the right in the family room space is about 18” higher. So the larger art piece is perfect in that area. Love the two canvas still life images of fruit. The colors work so well together. As usual the art makes the space!

Left - Right: Simple Pear, Sylvia Angeli, limited edition giclee on canvas, Goya Frame moulding Larson Juhl, Three Peaches, Sylvia Angeli limited edition giclee on canvas, Goya moulding, Larson Juhl; Bar and Café, Didier Lourenco, limited edition serigraph on paper, Tribecca moulding, Larson Juhl

Before & After – Answers to Your Wall Design Dilemmas!

Commission Original Art
The "Before" and "After" photos below are a wonderful example of choosing the right image for your space. The right piece of art can give your space that pizzazz that we all desire.

Notice that the "Before" piece was just not quite wide enough for the sofa. Two thirds of the space should be covered with the art piece. Because the space above the sofa IS the focal point of the living room as well as the front hall, the need for a statement of color and strong impact was not being met by the architectural art piece. The shades of browns, gold and blue in the new piece are all colors that are repeated throughout the home. Bingo!

"I had been looking for an original piece of art. And found a local artist, Jeff White whose work I love! Should I consult with "Wall Design Diva?" ...how hard could it be...I found the art? My better judgment kicked in and I decided to use Suzanne as I have made several costly mistakes in the past. The benefits were far more than I expected. Suzanne helped me determine the size of the art, color schemes and placement. The biggest benefit was that she convinced me to commission my artist of choice. That process would have been far too daunting on my own. Suzanne helped me identify exactly what I liked and direct the artist accordingly. With the help of Suzanne the end product exceeded all of my expectations! I not only got a piece of art I loved but it was created just for me. She added significant value and her fee was included in the artist's purchase price. Now that is priceless!!" Joy Roberts

I would love to help you with the same kind of project. Please contact me if you are struggling with art selection for your home!

 Commercial Corner

Oregon State Bar Association, Lobby Art that Won't Break the Bank!
One very important component of my business is the commercial application of art in offices and building lobbies. Recently I helped the Oregon State Bar with art for their new building in Tigard, Oregon. We wanted to create a fabulous look with out breaking the bank. The association is not a for-profit business and do not want to appear extravagant to their members. We chose to frame images of their past presidents and place them on the staircase. The other pieces in the lobby are open edition giclee reproductions, stretched on tall bars with sides painted a dark gray gesso. Stunning!
